In the first half, Iran took a 1-0 lead with a goal by Taremi in the 25th minute. But in the 32nd minute, Iran's Golizadeh scored a goal that was ruled offside by VAR and the goal was disallowed. At the end of the first half, Iran led 1-0.
In the second half, the UAE had a chance to equalize but Kananizadegan gave away a penalty for a foul in the box and Alhassani's spot kick was parried away by Iranian goalkeeper Behranvand. However, in the 65th minute, Taremi scored twice with another powerful shot to seal the win for Iran. In the third minute of extra time, UAE's Al Hassani scored from a narrow angle to make the score 2-1, and finally, Iran beat UAE 2-1 to advance to the round of 16.
