A member of the Euro 2024 squad and is "trying" to convince Luciano Spalletti to help Genoa finish in the top ten.
After scoring an early penalty for Genoa in Sunday's 3-3 draw away to Milan, Retegui told DAZN: "We knew it was going to be a tough game. We started well and now we go home with an important point. I thank the coach and all the fans who came here to support us. I'm very happy."
Alberto Gilardino recently announced a contract extension with the Griffins, to which Rettger said, "We're happy; it's great news. There are three games left and we want to be in the top ten."
Retegui is still uncertain about being named in Italy's squad for Euro 2024. The Argentine-born striker scored two goals during international days in March but said, "I dream of playing in the tournament because there are other strong players and I'm trying to be part of the team."
