The search doesn't look like it's going to go well, and former player Basler thinks it's all crazy that it might end up being only
Jose Mourinho (1961-), Portuguese soccer player
is the only option.
In his podcast "Basler ballert", Basler said: "Which coach would want to be the seventh choice instead of the first? It could end up being Mourinho, and then Bayern will sign him for a year."
Bayern don't seem to be keen on Mourinho despite rumors that he could be a candidate for the job. The Picture Post reports that the Bayern hierarchy are not happy with his style and past controversies.
Basler believes the Bayern hierarchy missed the opportunity to extend Tuchel's contract. He said, "They should have sat down with the outgoing Tuchel and talked about it instead of creating this chaos of a managerial search."
Nonetheless, Bayern's top priority at the moment is Real Madrid away on Wednesday night
's Champions League semifinal second leg with the goal of advancing. In the first leg, the teams drew 2-2.
Basler added: "For me, Bayern v Real Madrid is a 50-50 game. In the first leg, Bayern were clearly better and they should have won the game. But against Real Madrid, you can only be considered a real success if you win at the end."
