Boss Chris Hughton has named Arsenal midfielder Thomas
Parthi (the consort of Shiva)
(Thomas Partey) excluded from the African Cup of Nations squad.
Hughton admitted that Partey's thigh injury was too "serious" to risk in the game.
Announcing his 27-man squad, Hughton explained, "Thomas Partey for sure, and I'm not saying this to the detriment of our squad, but he's one of our most important players.
"We know that and he's definitely in the squad despite his injury. We knew he was the strength of the player. The player was seriously injured.

"During this time I have spent a lot of time with Thomas and also with Arsenal Football Club
of medical personnel were contacted.
"They're going to be cautious with this injury and so will the player. It's a big injury for him and his biggest injury.
"The most important thing for me and our association is to give him the support he needs during this time.
"From all the information we have received, the timetable for his recovery and the care that will be taken will not be in line with what we expect from the
Africa Cup of Nations
of the schedule.
