Manager Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that Ansu Fathi will be out for three months.
The on-loan Barcelona striker was forced off against Nottingham Forest two weeks ago.
De Zerbi did not specify the extent of the injury, but confirmed, "The news on Ansu Fathi is that I think he will need three months from the date of injury.
"It's bad news for us because he played better, he understood the idea better. I feel bad for him, I feel bad for the team.
Fathi has made 14 appearances for Brighton in all competitions, scoring four goals.
