Bayern
Munich with Alfonso Davies'
contract renewal
Negotiations have been going on for months, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement. The club's sporting director, Christoph Freund, said on Tuesday, "Discussions have taken place but no agreement has been reached and the door is definitely not closed."
Although Bayern have not withdrawn their contract offer, Bayern must get it done quickly as the Canadian defender's contract expires in June 2025. According to Sports Illustrated, Davies' agent wants a €150 million release clause in his new contract. Bayern have historically not accepted release clauses, a stance that has never changed in the past.
In addition, Davies' team is demanding a €16 million annual salary and a €15 million signing-on fee, and Bayern are not willing to agree to such a large pay rise. Davies' current salary is around €9 million per year.
While there are rumors that Davis has been looking for a house in Madrid and is about to meet with the
Real Madrid soccer team
signings, but these have not been confirmed.
