FC Barcelona are hoping to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer, but their finances will be key to achieving that goal, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.

Barcelona see Nico as their first choice for reinforcements in the left winger position this summer. La Liga president Tebas recently said that Barcelona can sign Nico if they can meet the requirements of the Financial Fairness Act.

However, Barca are facing competition from Arsenal and Chelsea, both of which can make more lucrative offers. But Barca believe that once the Financial Fairness Act issue is resolved, all hurdles will be cleared as they have already reached an agreement with Nico himself.

Niko Williams has a release clause of €58 million and Athletic Bilbao have no intention of negotiating a transfer fee. Therefore, Barcelona need to raise the appropriate transfer funds by selling a player to comply with the Financial Fairness Act.

This transfer operation is a complex task for Barcelona, having to meet La Liga's requirements financially as well as face pressure from their rivals. However, the Barcelona management is confident of completing the deal and believes that the addition of Nico Williams will provide an important boost to the team's left winger position.
