Paris 2024

the Olympics

will officially open on July 26, when the city will welcome fans and athletes from more than 200 countries and regions. According to a new analysis by the foreign media WalletHub, the cost of organizing this Olympics is estimated to be about $8.2 billion, which will make it the sixth costliest Olympics in the history of summer and winter Olympics.

The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi were the costliest Games ever, costing nearly $25 billion, followed by the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. WalletHub estimates that France has spent about $3.2 billion on infrastructure investments in the Paris metropolitan area before the Games began. Highways, railroads, airport and hotel renovations and similar expenditures are considered non-sports related by the OCOG, and are therefore not included in the budget for some Games.

The transformation of the infrastructure in the Paris metropolitan area will have a positive impact on the long-term development of the city, while also providing strong support for the upcoming Olympic Games. Millions of tourists are expected to flock to Paris during the Olympics, which will further boost the local economy.
