In a recent interview, he expressed his views on the team's failure to win trophies during the construction of the new stadium. Lolley believes that the club's focus on the construction of the new stadium at the time led to some restrictions on investment in the team, which affected the team's competitiveness when it mattered.
Lowry said, "I'm not the type to dwell on the past and I have no regrets about everything I've done. We did our best and took the club to an unprecedented level. We didn't miss out on too much, but when we reached that level of performance and achievement, the club was also focusing on the construction of a new stadium, which naturally meant there were some restrictions on player investment. At that time, other teams such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City were investing more in top players than we were and ultimately that made the difference. I still believe we were very close to success, but at the same time we did miss out on some honors. When I look back, I can't help but think what the result would have been if we could have stayed at White Hart Lane for one or two more seasons."
Tottenham Hotspur played at Wembley Stadium during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons until April 2019, when the new stadium was completed. In both seasons, Spurs managed to qualify for the Champions League. Lowry recalled, "We played amazing soccer on that pitch in those two seasons. We can't forget that we didn't have our own home ground for almost a year and a half and had to play at Wembley, which is a great stadium but ultimately not our home. We did well to reach the Champions League with a top-four finish in the league. But we faced stronger teams and clubs."
Lowry is optimistic about Tottenham's future, stating, "There are always ups and downs in a soccer career, and I believe that Tottenham are building something very interesting right now. I really appreciate the coach's soccer philosophy and am optimistic about the future direction of the club. I believe Tottenham will regain its competitiveness. I see this as a fresh start and I can't wait to see what kind of changes it will bring to the club."
