Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Lowry looked back fondly on his 12 years at Spurs in a recent media interview and spoke candidly about the challenges the team faced during the construction of the new stadium as well as his personal regrets. Despite failing to win any trophies with the team, Lowry's loyalty and love for Tottenham overflowed and he is confident about the club's future under Postecoglou.
Lowry pointed out that Tottenham Hotspur's restricted investment during the construction of the new stadium made the team unable to compete with giants such as Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in terms of bringing in top players, which affected the team's competitiveness to a certain extent. He recalled, "At that time, we did our best to bring the club to an unprecedented height, but unfortunately, due to the construction of the new stadium, the team's investment was limited, which ultimately caused a gap in results."
Regarding his career at Tottenham, Lowry said that he has no regrets as he gave it his all. He specifically mentioned the glorious moment when he helped the team reach the Champions League final in 2019, and although he failed to win the title, that experience was undoubtedly one of the high points of his career. Lolley also said that he has always believed that Tottenham were very close to success and just missed out for various reasons.
Speaking about the impact of the construction of the new stadium on the team, Lolley admitted: "In our two seasons at Wembley Stadium, we qualified for the Champions League but it always felt like it wasn't really our home ground. We had to adapt to a new environment and that affected our performances to a certain extent." He also emphasized that despite the many difficulties they faced, the Tottenham players continued to show resilience and excellent technical and tactical skills.
For the current manager Postecoglou, Lowry gave high praise. He believes that Postecoglou has brought a new soccer philosophy and tactical system to Tottenham Hotspur and believes that under the leadership of Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur will once again become a competitive force in the Premier League and even in European football. Lowry said: "I really like the manager's soccer philosophy and the direction the club is heading. I believe that in the near future we will be able to see the moment when Tottenham return to the top."
Finally, Lori expressed his best wishes for the future of Tottenham: "Our soccer career is all about ups and downs, but I believe that Tottenham are trying to do some very interesting things. I believe that under Postecoglou's leadership, Spurs will be competitive again and move towards the goal of competing for trophies. I'm looking forward to seeing where this program takes the club."
