Participating countries and athletes

Half of the participating National Olympic Committees have already arrived in Paris, and more than 2,000 athletes have already moved into the Olympic Village. 17 athletes have already begun training for the 17 events, the first of which will take place on July 24th.

Opening Ceremony Details

: The opening ceremony of this year's Olympic Games will take place on the Seine. The Paris Olympic Organizing Committee envisages that the opening ceremony will kick off slowly along the Seine at sunset. Athletes will depart from the Pont d'Austerlitz by boat from east to west, sailing six kilometers to the Place du Trocadéro, across the river from the Eiffel Tower, where they will take part in the ceremonies.
