Firming up the waiver wire for Davis.

In an interview, Hernandez said that Bayern has decided: if Davis does not accept the extension offer, he will stay until the expiration of his contract. Bayern would like to extend Davies' contract, but is not willing to meet his extension request.

Real Madrid, for their part, are not nervous about this. Signing Davies is not their top priority, in fact, manager Carlo Ancelotti is more concerned about extending Ferran Mendy's contract. Both Real Madrid and Ancelotti realize that the chances of signing Davies on a waiver next summer have become much better. The duo of Mendy and Fran Garcia are more than enough to handle the current left-back duties, and there is no transfer fee to pay when Davies is brought in next summer.

It should be noted that Mendy's own contract is about to expire, and things could change if the French international leaves the club in the coming months. In fact, Real Madrid are internally divided over whether to renew Mendy's contract, with a section of the hierarchy not recognizing Ancelotti's heavy use of Mendy.

Real Madrid's case for Davies is pretty clear: they won't pay an irrational transfer fee, especially after having already spent a fortune signing Mbappe (albeit on a waiver). If Bayern are willing to lower their asking price, Real Madrid could consider bringing in Davies this summer. But if Bayern insists on a €50 million transfer fee, Real Madrid will wait until Davies' contract expires before making a move.

Hernández's public statement reinforces the position of both sides, and more importantly, the plans of Real Madrid. And for Ancelotti, renewing Mendy's contract is the most important task at hand. Of course, Real Madrid will still need to be flexible considering the variables that may arise in the coming months.
