Simmons' current contract runs through the end of next season, at which point he will be paid $40.3 million. The 2016 first-round pick has eight seasons under his belt so far in his career, with a combined salary of more than $163 million.
However, Simmons has only appeared in 332 games out of 646 career games. Despite the lucrative paycheck, his appearances have been far less than expected, with frequent injuries and other issues affecting his playing time and performance.
