The head coach and departed for Europe two days later to work on the selection and hiring of foreign assistant coaches.

During his stay in Europe, Hong interviewed a number of foreign coaches and met with European internationals Son, Kim Min-jae, Lee Jae-seong, Hwang In-beom and Seol Young-woo. Hong will return to South Korea on the morning of July 25th at the end of his trip to Europe.

As the controversy surrounding the KFA's selection process has yet to die down, Hong Myung-bo is expected to once again explain the process of becoming the head coach of the Korean team, the hiring of foreign assistant coaches, and what he has been talking about with the travelling internationals at his inaugural conference. The conference will be an opportunity for Hong to explain his future plans to the media and the public.

Hong Myung-bo will lead South Korea into their first round of the 18-team tournament at home against Palestine on September 5th. This will be his first official match as Korea's head coach and preparation will be his first priority after taking over.
