and possibly co-hosted with Uruguay. For now, Ecuador is largely out of the running. CONCACAF is actively preparing for CONCACAF 2028, hoping to continue the success of Brazil 2021 and CONCACAF 2024 in the United States.

Argentina is a leading candidate due to its excellent infrastructure and hospitality. In accompanying the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) in the organization of the U20 World Cup, CONCACAF has confirmed that Argentina has sufficient stadium and urban resources to host the Copa America. Potential host cities include Buenos Aires, La Plata, Cordoba, Mendoza, San Juan and Santiago del Estero.

Buenos Aires may offer two venues, Monumental Stadium and Bombonera Stadium. A delegation from the South American Football Confederation (CONCACAF) was so impressed with the Bombonera Stadium during its visit for the Copa Libertadores final on November 30, 2024, that it recommended its inclusion in the 2028 Copa America program.

Argentina may co-host the 2028 Copa America with Uruguay. Uruguay's Centenario Stadium and Penarol's Champions of the Century Stadium could be taken into consideration, given the geographic proximity of the two countries and the good relationship between the soccer federations. However, the final will still be held in Buenos Aires.

Ecuador had been seen as a potential host, but Ecuadorian soccer federation president Francisco Egas has said that hosting the Copa America is not possible under current conditions unless the country can make a significant investment.

While the United States has been the alternative, CONCACAF prefers to bring the Copa America back to South America. Overall, the race to host the 2028 Copa America is still on, but Argentina has emerged as the strongest candidate.
