Griezmann's current contract expires in 2026 and carries an annual salary of €7 million. While the departures of Savic, Saúl, Depay and Hermoso have freed up some salary space for Atletico, the club still has no intention of increasing Griezmann's salary.
Nonetheless, Atletico will consider renewing Griezmann's contract if he maintains a high level of athleticism by the time it expires. However, Griezmann's performance in this summer's Europa League was not ideal, which may have also affected the club's attitude towards his contract extension.
Atletico will continue to observe Griezmann's performances over the next few years and will make a decision on a contract extension when the time is right.
