contract renewal
Until December 2025 This decision signifies that the Albanian national team will continue to be led by this experienced coaching team in the coming years as they strive for a breakthrough on the international stage.
On Wednesday, local time, the Albanian Football Federation (AFF) made an announcement on its official website saying, "The AFF has renewed the contracts of the national team's head coach, Silvinho, as well as the two assistant coaches, Zabaleta and Doriva Guidoni, with new contracts that will last until December 2025. The coaching staff will immediately begin leading the team's preparations for the UEFA Nations League and World Cup qualifiers. The first challenge will be the UEFA Nations League, after which the team will also be better prepared for the 2026 World Cup European qualifiers. The main goal of the national team is now to reach the World Cup final round for the first time in history."
Brazilian Silvinho was a left back during his playing days and played for top teams such as Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester City. After his retirement, he began his coaching career and became the head coach of the Albanian national team in January last year. Under his leadership, the Albanian team qualified for this summer's UEFA Europa League.
Despite failing to make it out of the Europa League's Group of Death, Albania put in impressive performances in their three group games: a 1-2 loss to Italy, a 2-2 draw with Croatia and a 0-1 loss to Spain. Silvinho's coaching work was recognized and his contract extension was thus successfully reached.
The renewal of the contracts of Silvinho and his coaching staff will bring continued stability and strategic direction to the Albanian national team. The coaching staff's first priority will be to prepare for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, which will provide the team with a platform to test their strengths and prepare for the 2026 World Cup European qualifiers.
The main goal of the Albanian national team is to reach the World Cup final round for the first time in history. Silvinho said that the team will give their best to achieve this goal. He believes that with the joint efforts of the players and the coaching staff, the Albanian team will be able to achieve good results in the coming tournaments.
