Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest developments between Manchester United and Bayern over the transfer of De Ligt in the latest edition of his program. According to Romano, United have reached a stalemate in their transfer fee negotiations with Bayern Munich despite having reached an agreement with De Ligt himself.

Manchester United have already managed to sign Zylkiser and Yoro in this summer window, further enhancing the depth of their squad. However, for the pursuit of Derek Hunt, Manchester United failed to get what they wished for. Romano made it clear that United were adamant in their unwillingness to meet Bayern's request for a €50 million fixed fee on the transfer fee. This stance has led to a stalemate in the negotiations between the two sides, with a deal seemingly out of reach.

The United side has been hoping to include a floating clause in the transfer fee to alleviate the pressure of paying a large lump sum. However, the Bayern side does not seem to be willing to make concessions on this issue. Romano said that this is the main reason why the situation is still open and a deal has not yet been reached. United's insistence that they will not pay a fixed fee of €50 million means that both sides will have to make adjustments to their payment structure if they want to complete the deal.

For De Ligt himself, he is currently in a state of waiting. As a highly-regarded young center back, De Ligt would undoubtedly like to finalize his future as soon as possible. However, the transfer fee disagreement between Manchester United and Bayern has forced him to keep waiting.
