Paris 17-year-old midfielder Claudio Gomez is very close to joining Manchester City, according to Football.
RMC, on the other hand, are reporting that Gomez and City have agreed on personal terms that will see him sign a professional contract with City, and while he is attached to Paris, he doesn't think that they will actually plan to bring him into the first team. It has also been reported by RMC's Loïc Tanzi that Gomez will join City in the summer.
Born in July 2000, Gomez currently plays for Paris B and has been training with the first team since December. He is currently a French U18 international and has made seven appearances for the team, scoring one goal. He represented France at last year's U17 World Youth Championship and is one of the most promising midfielders of his age group within France.
The outlet said that Manchester City are very fond of the short young midfielder in the same category as Kante and Makelele, and although Paris want to offer him a professional contract, the situation has been tense in recent weeks.
The exodus of young players from their own youth has become a problem that has plagued Paris, especially sporting director Enrique, with the likes of Moussa Dembele, Gazadoux and others leaving the club in recent years. France Football claims that Paris are considering buying a **club** (to solve the problem) to allow young players to practice, but nothing has come of it yet.
