Beijing time on the evening of December 28, Swansea officially announced that former Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Cavaliar became the team's new manager.

Cavaliar, 52, who has coached Betis, Sporting Portugal and Sheffield Wednesday, is contracted to Swansea until the end of the season with an option to extend.

After leading the team to a loss to Middlesbrough, Cavaliar stepped down from Sheffield Wednesday on December 24, having led them to the play-offs in successive seasons.

Swansea officials say Cavaliere, who will make his debut against Watford on Saturday, agreed the deal last night local time and traveled to Swansea overnight to meet with the team and lead a training session this morning.

Swansea, who sacked Clement earlier due to their poor record this season, are currently in the bottom one.
