According to Marca, Mbappe said that Crowe was his childhood idol but is now a rival to compete on the field.

Paris will face Real Madrid in the Champions League 1/8 final as Paris, with Mbappe, Neymar and Cavani, will battle defending Champions League champions Real Madrid.

"He [Crowe] has been a hero since I was a kid and when I visited the Real Madrid training base it was fantastic to meet him." Mbappe told Marca.

"But I'm a competitor, very competitive, and all I want is to win, so it doesn't matter who is our opponent, we just want to win the game."

"I admired him a lot as a child and now that's over, now I'm going to play at the Bernabeu and want to win. For the player who won five Ballon d'Ors, you can learn a lot from him, he's a great player, but so am I. Neymar is the same, I think he's similar to Crowe, they're the same caliber of player, and as a goal scorer I learn a lot from Cavani as well."

Mbappe said that partnering with Neymar and Cavani has benefited him a lot, and the man also claimed that Neymar is not a selfish player.

"What the outside world sees is just Neymar on the field, but that's not him. People see him showboating and dribbling and think he's just enjoying himself, or that he's selfish and only thinks about himself. But when you're in a dressing room with him, you realize that's not the case."

"He's a really nice guy, he's interested in other people, he's friendly, he puts the team first and his soccer is really full of dishing and all sorts of techniques, but you can't stop him because he does a great job. Nobody can dish it out in a game like he can, he's a player who can win championships and we have to capitalize on that."
