According to the latest news from renowned transfer journalist Romano, Chelsea FC has decided not to get involved in the deal for Rennes defender Douai, meaning that the transfer negotiations that could have involved Chelsea have collapsed. Instead, Strasbourg FC is actively pursuing a transfer with Rennes and is expected to complete the deal through direct inter-club negotiations.

Previously, another well-known transfer expert, Di Marzio, had revealed that Chelsea were interested in signing Doue for a total of €9 million and planned to send him on loan to play for Strasbourg. However, with the latest reports from Romano, that plan has apparently changed. Chelsea, for their part, have made it clear that they will not be involved in the transfer, giving Strasbourg the opportunity to reach an agreement with Rennes directly.

Douai's transfer fee will reportedly include a fixed transfer fee of €6 million and a €2 million fluctuation clause, the details of which are being tightly finalized. Once all terms are agreed, the Rennes defender will officially become a member of Strasbourg's squad.

The reversal of this transfer may come as a surprise to Chelsea, but it is certainly an important opportunity for Strasbourg to add strength. Doué, as a young and promising defender, will add more strength and depth to Strasbourg's backline.
