In the pre-season match on July 27, Liverpool beat Real Betis 1-0 with the winning goal of Sobosloe. After the match, the goal scorer was interviewed by Liverpool's official website, sharing his feelings about the match and his outlook for the new season.

On scoring goals and working with Salah, Sobosloe said, "It didn't happen very often last season, so I always let Salah know that I'm always ready to try a run like that. I'm hoping to show that understanding more in the new season and hopefully you'll see me doing that a lot in games."

Speaking about the impact of scoring goals in pre-season on a player's confidence, Sobosloe said, "It's always good to score goals and help the team win. I also set myself some individual goals, but first and foremost the team is the most important thing. If we perform well as a team then every player will perform well."

Speaking about being in a more forward position with Elliott, Sobosloe said, "It's a little bit different than last season, but we're ready for anything. There's a clear division of labor and cooperation between us; if he drops back on one side, I go to the middle and vice versa. This flexibility to run and work together is what we want to achieve. It takes a lot of running, but when I score, it's all worth it."

For his goal, Sobosloe singled out Njoni's pass: "Njoni's pass was great, he found me exactly. It was important for the No. 6 (probably meaning the midfield commander) to see us and capitalize on our run. And of course, Salah knows how to handle a ball like that."

Finally, Sobosloe spoke highly of Njoni's performance after coming on as a substitute: "I like him a lot, he's an offensive player. His movements make it difficult for opponents to foul him and his performance in the second half showed everyone his potential. We have a lot of young players who are young but played well, didn't concede goals and created chances. I believe we have a great future."
