On a recent episode of The Tonight Show, American soccer star Pulisic, who plays for AC Milan, opens up and shares with the audience his love affair with soccer and the stories of his career. From a small-town boy in Pennsylvania to a rising star in international soccer, Pulisic's path to soccer has been full of challenges and glory.
Speaking of his contribution to U.S. soccer, Pulisic couldn't hide his excitement: "To this day, it's all still like a dream come true for me. I never thought I would be able to stand at such a high level, doing what I love and making a living doing it. It's an incredible accomplishment."
Recalling his initial love for soccer, Pulisic traces it back to his childhood. He revealed, "My earliest memories are closely linked to soccer. I moved to England when I was about 6-7 years old, and ever since then I've been interested in becoming a professional soccer player. Every year for Halloween, I wouldn't hesitate to go as a soccer player, even though I don't seem to be very creative back then (laughs)."
Talking about the reasons for choosing soccer, Pulisic said it was largely due to family upbringing: "Both my parents are soccer fans, and both of them have played. Especially my mom, she's probably still the better soccer player of the two of them. Her soccer talent deeply influenced me and gave me a love for the sport."
When asked if he would ever use his character in a video game, Pulisic laughed and replied, "Of course I would! It's just a cool feeling when you're first added to a video game. You can't wait to use yourself in a game in a big way."
Regarding the tiger tattoo on his body, Pulisic clarified, "That tattoo wasn't done specifically to celebrate anything, nor was it something planned. I was young, probably around 18-19 years old, and the tattoo artist suggested that I try the design to see if it aligned. So I got this unique tattoo."
Speaking about the upcoming game at Yankee Stadium, Pulisic couldn't hide his anticipation: "Next Saturday we'll be playing Manchester City at Yankee Stadium. It's amazing to imagine what it's like to play soccer in the mecca of baseball! Whenever I play in the United States, I get extra excited. Words cannot express the feeling of being able to come back home and represent my European club on the American field."
Finally, when asked if he would entertain his European teammates, Pulisic humorously said, "They always ask that. When we were in Los Angeles last year, they said to me, 'Christian, this is your place, show us around!' But I'm actually from Hershey, Pennsylvania, which is not close to LA (laughs). But the good thing is that New York is a little bit closer, so maybe I can have some special surprises for them."
