According to the latest report from the UK's Mirror, Premier League giants Manchester United are keeping a close eye on two players, midfield star Jurmand and defender Dumfries. This news certainly brings new expectations for Manchester United fans.
Manchester United manager Jens Ten Hagar is obviously not satisfied with the team's midfield configuration, and he hopes to strengthen the team's midfield strength through reinforcements this summer. Jurmand, as a young midfielder who has been performing well in the field recently, naturally enters the vision of United. Last summer, Jurmand moved from Serie A club Lecce to Sporting Portugal and signed a long-term contract containing an €80 million (£67.3 million) release clause. This demonstrated Sporting Portugal's high recognition and expectations of Jurmand.
However, it will not be easy for Manchester United to sign Jurmand. Sporting Lisbon's manager, Amorim, has deemed him as one of the team's non-sellers, which means that United will need to pay a huge transfer fee in order to convince Sporting Lisbon to release him. Nonetheless, United's senior management has shown great interest in Jurmand and is willing to work hard for him.
In addition to the midfield position, Manchester United are also considering changes to their backline. The United hierarchy are reportedly considering bringing in Inter Milan defender Dumfries and the deal could be swapped with a move for Wan-Bissaka. Wan-Bissaka's contract with United is due to expire in 12 months and Dumfries is in a similar situation. Such a swap deal could be a win-win for both United and Inter Milan.
If Ten Hagar decides to sell Wan-Bissaka, he will have to bear some financial loss. However, considering Dumfries' strength and potential on the pitch, as well as his fit with United's tactical system, the deal is still worth considering for United.
