Bayern
Munich to bring in Leverkusen center back this summer
Jonathan Towers
's plans have hit multiple roadblocks, leading to an increased likelihood of Derek Hurt staying with the team.
Jonatan Tah has returned to Leverkusen on Sunday morning to start training preparations after finishing his vacation. Bayern have long been interested in Tah, but their financial situation has limited their actions. Bayern's first offer of €18 million plus €2 million in bonuses for Tah was rejected. Subsequently, Bayern raised the offer to 20 million euros plus 5 million euros in bonuses, still failed to impress Leverkusen. Leverkusen said that 30 million euros is the basis of the dialogue, and their valuation of the tower of 40 million euros.
Leverkusen's sporting director Rolfes told Picture Post, "There are no new developments, that's just the way it is. We are happy that Tower is back in the team." Meanwhile, Leverkusen are looking to extend Tower's contract and make him the team's top-paid player alongside Wiltz and Schick at €8 million a year.
On the Bayern side, Supervisory Board member Hernes explicitly told Sporting Director Eberl that players must be sold before continuing to bring in new stars. Hernes stated, "If one, two or three players don't leave first, then no more players will arrive!"
In addition, the deal to sell defender Derek De Rigt to Manchester United has hit a rough patch and stalled. With new signing Yohki Ito out for a few weeks with a broken bone sustained in a warm-up match, the likelihood of Derek Hurt staying in the team has increased.
The challenges faced by Bayern in attracting reinforcements highlights the pressure on the club in terms of financial management and personnel adjustments. Fans will continue to monitor Bayern's transfer moves and expect the club to resolve these issues before the new season to provide the strongest possible squad.
