Qingdao West Coast has 4 wins, 5 draws and 12 losses in the Chinese Super League this season, ranking third from the bottom and only one place above the relegation zone for the time being. To cope with this predicament, the club has decided to make a major adjustment to its coaching team.
In the official announcement, the club said that Shao Jiayi will be the head coach, German coach Rainer Maurer will be the assistant coach, and Yang Zhi will be the goalie coach. Meanwhile, former goalkeeping coach Wang Jian will be transferred to assistant goalkeeping coach.
Shao Jiayi, born in Beijing on April 10, 1980, started his playing career at Beijing Guoan and played for Munich 1860, Cottbus and Duisburg successively, known as "Asia's Golden Left Foot" by the German media, and made 41 appearances for China's national team, scoring 8 goals and contributing 1 assist.After retiring from playing in 2015, Shao Jiayi has served as the sports director of Beijing Guoan and the training director of the U19 men's national team management department of the Chinese Football Association (CFA). Shao Jiayi has served as the sports director of Beijing Guoan, the training director of the national team management department of the Chinese Football Association, the leader and assistant coach of the U19 men's national soccer team, the head of the coaching team of the U18 men's national soccer team, and the assistant coach of the first team of the national men's soccer team. Reiner Maurer, born on February 16, 1960 in Mindelheim, Germany, currently holds a UEFA professional level coaching license. During his playing days, Maurer was a defender known for his exquisite defensive skills, and played for Bayern Munich, Munich 1860, Bielefeld, Stuttgart and other clubs at all levels of the German and Swiss leagues, etc. In 1995, Maurer started his coaching career, and served as an assistant coach and head coach in the period when Shao played for Munich 1860, and then became the assistant coach of Augsburg in the Bundesliga in the 2021-2022 season, helping the team to survive the relegation. In the 2021-2022 season, he became the assistant coach of Augsburg, and helped the team to survive relegation. Yang Zhi, born on January 15, 1983 in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, played as a goalkeeper during his playing days, and has long played for Beijing Guoan as a first-team starting goalkeeper, helping the team win the 2009 Chinese Super League title and the 2018 Chinese Football Association Cup. Yang Zhi has been selected for the Chinese national team many times, and played as a starter in the Asian Cup and other international A-level tournaments. 2020 after his retirement, Yang Zhi served as the goalkeeper coach of the U19 National Youth Football League.
