Massive layoffs were carried out, affecting up to 250 employees. 36-year-old Manchester United center back Evans expressed his views on the matter in an interview, expressing deep regret and emotions.

Evans said in the interview, "A lot of people have lost their jobs in the last couple of weeks, which is really sad. As someone who was at the club for a while, I was away for a while but I've been at the club for a long time and you know there's been a lot of people losing their jobs recently.

"It's a hard feeling to imagine that the new owners think that's the direction they want to go, but you know, it's not an easy thing for everybody. You've known these guys for 20 years and this happened to happen when we were in preseason. So we're all a little bit in the dark and I'm sure when we get back to the club everything will be sorted out and things will be clearer.

"But it's sad to see that, I've known some of them for a long time. Working at a club like Manchester United you give your all, everyone always has, it's a huge workforce but I believe that's the culture of the club.

"Quite a few people's families work at this club as well, my wife, brother and father all work at this club. (Note: Evans' brother played for Manchester United, his wife works for United TV and his father is a youth coach)

"So there's always going to be this feeling that they've given everything to the club and it's a huge honor for them simply because they love this club so much."

Evans' words were full of sympathy for the laid-off employees and cherished the culture of the club. For those who have served Manchester United for many years, this layoff is undoubtedly a huge blow. While the direction of the United club's operations and decisions may be based on commercial considerations, the impact on these employees and their families cannot be ignored.

How the future United will find a balance between maintaining the club's culture and cutting operating costs remains an important topic. Fans are also looking forward to seeing the club handle matters properly and minimize the impact on staff in the process.
