The future of Juventus striker Federico Chiesa (Chiesa Jr.) is becoming uncertain, according to a new report from Giovanni Albanese, Juve's follow up reporter for La Gazzetta dello Sport. Chiesa Jr. had his first face-to-face meeting with Juve boss Juan Motta today, but there are still significant differences regarding his contract extension.
Chiesa Junior's contract with Juve expires in the summer of 2025, and as of January next year he is free to negotiate with other clubs. Juve, for their part, offered a salary cut for the extension, but this offer clearly failed to meet the player's expectations. Aside from financial factors, Chiesa Jr. would also like to take a more central role in the team, however Juve cannot guarantee this at the moment.
Faced with such a predicament, Chiesa Jr's agent Ramadani has started to look for opportunities for him to play in the Champions League next season and is considering the possibility of a move abroad. Bayern Munich and a number of English clubs, notably Manchester United, have reportedly shown keen interest in Chiesa Jr. Manchester United is even seen as one of the ideal homes for Chiesa Jr.
In order to resolve the future of Chiesa Jr. as soon as possible, Ramadani has been in contact with a number of clubs in London recently. In addition to Tottenham Hotspur, he has been in advanced talks with Chelsea. Juventus, on the other hand, want to sell Chiesa Jr. for about 25 to 30 million euros, but they are also willing to lower the price in the negotiations considering the current situation.
For Juventus, the departure of Junior Chiesa will undoubtedly be a major loss. However, with a contract extension not being agreed upon, they will also have to start preparing for the player's departure. For Chiesa Junior, he will need to make a decision in the coming months, whether to stay at Juventus and fight for better contract terms, or choose to join another club that can offer more opportunities to play and higher salaries.
