Liverpool have been quiet in the transfer market this summer but have been shocked when they made a move, according to Japanese media reports Sports Nippon have reportedly spent almost €60 million on the signing of Kenyoung Kubo. The 23-year-old Japanese international's manager flew to England for negotiations, meaning the transfer is in its final stages.
According to Sports Nippon, Kenyoung Kubo is reportedly set to extend his contract with Real Sociedad this February until 2029, but with a €60 million buyout clause. Liverpool will activate the clause buyer and issue Kubo Kenyoung with a €15 million per year contract. If successful, it would be the most expensive transfer in Japanese soccer history.
The report states that Kubo Kenyoung's representatives have flown to England for final negotiations, and that the right wing is confident about the transfer and has begun to learn English. In addition, Liverpool themselves have their own national teammate in Air Endo, which will make it easier for Kubo Kenyoung to adapt.
