National team leader Heventer has resigned, ending a four-year stint as head coach, the Danish FA has officially announced. Heventer led Denmark to two European national teams and one world national team during his tenure. The best result was a top four finish in the last European national team. The Danish FA released a document stating that the Danish national team needs a new atmosphere.
The Danish FA published an article stating that after the European national team, the national team executives evaluated the situation with Hovant and concluded that the national team needed a new look and therefore decided to change the leader.
Hewitt summed up his four years of coaching by saying he was honored: "I did the best I could for as long as I can remember, and coaching the national team was a great thing to do, and the good times will last forever," he said. Hewitt's tenure was initially set to end after the 2026 World, but now he is leaving two years early, with assistant coach Viggoz as caretaker of the national team for the time being.
