Manchester United recently acquired two new recruits, Joshua Shukes and Jolo, at a cost of over £90 million (about HK$900 million). In order to meet the financial constraints of the Premier League, it is necessary to sell some of their current players. According to British newspaper The Sun, the Red Devils plan to sell midfielder McTomini for £40 million (about HK$400 million). Fulham were initially the first to receive the goods, but now another London side, Tottenham, have joined the race and are expected to sign the 27-year-old Scottish international.

McTomini had a great season last season, scoring a career high 10 goals in 43 games, but the United management are still planning to sell him, in large part because of the little income from player transfer fees and the limited financial help that would be available, if McTomini were to be sold, it is expected that £40 million would be made available and has attracted a lot of attention from the ball.

Turkey's powerful Galatasaray vice-president Hadi Bogu had earlier admitted to McTomini, and Fulham also made an offer, but only offered £17 million, which was rejected by the Red Devils. Tottenham have now joined the race, which gives United more bargaining power.

Tottenham lost their ticket to the Europa League last season after finishing fifth in the Premier League with only two points to fourth-placed Aston Villa. In order to improve their strength, they will do well in the new season and I believe that adding more soldiers will be relatively generous or have a chance to satisfy the demands of Manchester United.
