On Thursday morning (11th), Colombian star James Rodiguez contributed another assist to help his team beat Uruguay 1-0 and will fight for the title against the previous league leader Argentina. The protagonist 'J-God' has amassed six assists this year, breaking the record of Mez and becoming the best assisted player in a single Americas in history, leading the way for the battle of kings.

After the opening goal, Colombia were aggressive, taking frequent shots from distance, but Uruguay were more threatening on the counter-attack, and after 17 minutes, Dawuniunis took a shot from inside the box, only to stick it against the post and out of bounds. The Liverpool striker followed and missed a number of chances, including a narrow angle kick and a shot from the top of the box. They missed the target. Colombia also tilted out Zouan's Godouba head hammer.

Uruguay conceded just five minutes after midfield mainstay Bintangua exited the line of fire with an injury in the 34th minute, when James Rodiguez fired in a corner kick that midfielder Shea Farson headed home to open the record for Colombia. Colombia had an initial chance to open the scoring, but midfielder Richard Rios launched a shot that was parried away by Uruguayan goalkeeper Shaji Olodjerdi.

In first half extra time, Colombia right back, Daniel Montrose retaliated to the opponent and was shown a red card by the referee and thrown out. After the change of sides, Colombia played less than one man, obviously conservative. Uruguay took advantage of the opportunity to attack. D'Avunyunis made a mistake in the opponent's defense, but his one-footed shot was high and destined to be unbalanced.

Colombia have won four and drawn one of their five matches this year, with James Rodigues scoring one goal and six assists to be the hero of his team's run to the final. The 32-year-old has had a poor career in recent years, even having his contracts canceled by Greek side Olympiagos and Qatari side Al Reen. Last summer, he joined Barclays Premier League rivals Sao Paulo and his performances have improved. It is estimated that he has made a big splash in the Americas. He already has six assists, breaking the previous Americas record of five.
