UEFA has announced that he has opened a disciplinary investigation into Turkish centerpiece Miletimero for alleged misconduct in a match.
UEFA issued a notice stating that UEFA Euro 16 Austria has initiated a disciplinary investigation against Turkey under Article 31(4) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.
Meledimiro is said to have displayed the politically sensitive element of the celebratory gesture during the match. The 26-year-old midfielder took a head kick and scored two goals in the match, holding off a fierce Austrian onslaught with a one-two punch at the back to help Turkey beat Austria 2-1.
If Meledimiro is criminalized, he is bound to be suspended. If he indirectly benefits from the Netherlands, which is beautiful in its own right, it could easily win Romania in the round of 16, win Austria in the group stage, and get Turkey out of the tournament. It would really be one good thing after another if all of Turkey's advancing heroes stopped burying the tournament.
