Argentina, who are trying to defend the U.S. Nations Cup, have revealed that Ballon d'Or winner Mez will miss their final group game against Peru on Sunday morning (30) due to a muscle injury in his right foot.

In the last two CONCACAF group stage matches, Mez got it right against Canada and Chile, helping his team win two games and two matches and qualify early for the top eight. The 37-year-old reportedly felt muscle pain during the two matches. He was kicked in the leg by a Chilean player during the fight. He will need to be treated by military doctors, which could worsen the injury. He will undergo a detailed examination and he needs to shiver first.

Because Argentina is already out of the tournament early, even if Mezmiao is injured, leader Scaloni will have to rotate the lineup, saying, "The last game against Peru will be a fairer match between the first two games, while also observing the performance of the tournament." Peru has only one point in hand and if they don't win this game, they will be out of the tournament.
