of the plans and is likely to make an official announcement on the matter before the end of the year. Manchester United wants to build a modern stadium capable of holding 100,000 people to cement its position as the biggest club in the UK.

The Manchester United hierarchy are currently on a pre-season tour of the United States, having played Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles last weekend. The stadium complex, built at a cost of around $5.5 billion by Arsenal and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, is one of a number of stadiums being studied by the new management of United's soccer department as they draw up the blueprints for a new stadium.

United hope to build a new stadium that will become the "Wembley of the North" and fulfill Ratcliffe's vision. However, United do not currently have the £2 billion needed to build a new stadium. The club say they are not looking for a handout, but rather a public-private partnership to make the new stadium a catalyst for development in the area.

United are actively seeking private sector investment and sponsorship, which could include the sale of the naming rights to Old Trafford, although this decision will need to be finalized in consultation with fans.

Manchester United have been in contact with the team at SoFi Stadium for some time, while they have also looked at the Chicago Cubs' plans to build a new stadium and researched local stadium facilities during their tour of Australia. In addition, they visited the Bernabeu, Wembley and Tottenham Hotspur stadiums to gain further experience and inspiration.

If Manchester United is successful in raising £2 billion for the project, the construction of the new stadium will bring huge commercial and competitive benefits to the club. The modern stadium will not only enhance United's global image, but will also bring higher revenues and a better playing environment for the team.
