In the course of the race, Tang Qianting maintained a large advantage in the first half of the race, but was overtaken at the last minute by the Olympic record holder for the event, South African star Tachana Smith, and came second with a gap of only 0.26 seconds.

After the race, Zhang Qiong, Tang Qianting's initiation coach, national swimming coach and deputy secretary of the party branch of Changning District Junior Sports School, accepted an interview with the reporter. Zhang Qiong said, "It's very satisfying, I'm very excited." She praised Tang Qianting for her great efforts to improve her performance, and for the grueling training she went through to improve by 0.1 seconds. "I don't think there are any regrets, she really tried her best."

Tang Qianting's silver medal not only demonstrated her strength in the international swimming world, but also added a piece of honor to the Chinese swimming team. Her hard work and perseverance won her the appreciation of the coaches and spectators.

This Olympic experience will be an important page in Tang Qianting's career, and she is expected to continue to achieve even better results in future competitions.
