According to the latest revelation from The Athletic's renowned follow up reporter James Pearce, Premier League rivals Liverpool are actively planning a closed-door friendly with Spanish side Las Palmas. The friendly is tentatively scheduled for August 10 at Anfield as a warm-up the day before Liverpool's friendly with Sevilla.
At present, this news has not been officially confirmed, but if it comes to fruition, the game will not be open to the public to sell tickets, to take a closed door way. This arrangement may be due to tactical confidentiality, player status adjustment or venue maintenance and other factors.
Liverpool's pre-season program has been tight and full, and they have already completed two important matches against Arsenal and Manchester United in the United States, which not only provided the team with valuable real-world experience, but also further sharpened the lineup and tactics. As the new Premier League season draws nearer, Liverpool are clearly looking to more quality friendlies to keep their players fit and ready for the start of the new season.
Liverpool will welcome Sevilla at Anfield on August 11th at 22:00pm. Sevilla, as a traditional powerhouse in La Liga, is on a par with Liverpool, and this friendly will undoubtedly be an evenly matched match with a lot to see. Therefore, Liverpool chose to play a closed-door friendly with Las Palmas before the match to better adapt to the rhythm of the game, adjust the players' condition, and to be in the best position to welcome the confrontation with Sevilla.
