According to a new report from Gazzetta dello Sport, a midfielder swap deal could be brewing between Juventus and Fiorentina, featuring Juventus midfielder McEneny and Fiorentina back-rower Amrabat.

New Juventus boss Juan Motta has explicitly left McEneny out of his plans for the new season after taking over the team. However, the U.S. international has no shortage of suitors. In addition to a number of teams in the English Premier League, Fiorentina within Serie A have also been closely monitoring his movements and see him as a potential target for reinforcement. Fiorentina are looking to strengthen their midfield by bringing in McKennie, and are also actively seeking a solution to Amrabat's problems.

Amrabat, the former Verona player, returned to Fiorentina after his loan expired. Although he was a target for Manchester United, his buyout rights had expired and United did not choose to buy him out. Nonetheless, Amrabat has not completely given up hope of ever pulling on a United shirt again. However, the reality of the situation has forced him to hold talks with Fiorentina's senior management in order to find the best solution. Meanwhile, the likes of Atletico Madrid and AC Milan have also shown some interest in Amrabat.

For Juventus, although they have completed a deal for Douglas Luiz, manager Juan Motta is clearly not satisfied with that. He wants to further strengthen the backfield of the team, especially a versatile backfield player who can play in multiple positions. In this context, Juventus are open to including McKennie in the deal for Amrabat.

And for McEneny, leaving Juventus could be a fresh start. Although his salary at Juve was a whopping €2.5 million, he didn't mind accepting a lower salary in exchange for a longer term contract offered by Fiorentina. Such a decision certainly shows his thoughtfulness and long term planning for his future career.
