Cardiff City

announced the signing on waivers of 29-year-old Moroccan-born Dutch winger Anwar

Elgazi

, the parties signed a one-year contract.

El Ghazi, 29, signed a contract with Bundesliga side Mainz last year, but was banned from the team for publicly supporting Palestine, and was subsequently released by Mainz in November last year after insisting that he did not regret the move. During his time with Mainz, El Ghazi made only three appearances and contributed one assist.

El Ghazi has been idle since his contract was terminated last November and is currently valued at €2.5 million in the German transfer market.

This signing by Cardiff City certainly adds an experienced and skillful winger to the team. The addition of El Ghazi is expected to inject new energy and creativity into Cardiff City's attacking end. Fans are looking forward to his quick integration into the team and the positive impact he will have on the new season.
