Nottingham Forest Football Club today officially announced that they have successfully signed 25-year-old Portuguese striker Jota Silva from Guimarães FC of the Portuguese Super League. The promising young Portuguese international has signed a four-year contract with Nottingham Forest that will extend until the summer of 2028, marking the start of a new chapter in Jota Silva's career in the English top flight.
In the 2023-24 season, Jota Silva had an outstanding performance in the Guimarães team. He made 42 appearances for the team, scoring 15 goals and contributing 7 assists, which was an important part of the team's offense. His outstanding performance not only helped Guimarães achieve good results in the league, but also won him the attention of many European clubs.
More notably, Jota Silva made his Portuguese national team debut in March this year and had a solid performance against Sweden. With both his national team and club shining, Jota Silva's potential was widely recognized, ultimately prompting Nottingham Forest's decision to sign the young striker.
It has been revealed that Jota Silva's transfer fee will total €13 million, which includes a fixed transfer fee of €7 million and a €6 million floating clause. The 6 million euro floating clause is subdivided into two parts: the first part of 3 million euros will be triggered when Wakita Silva reaches 15 appearances for Nottingham Forest; and the second part of 3 million euros requires him to score at least 10 goals in his new home. Such transfer terms not only reflect Nottingham Forest's trust and expectation in Jota Silva, but also set clear targets for his future performances.
