According to a new report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Serie A side Bologna are aggressively strengthening their midfield in order to cope with the upcoming challenges of next season's European campaign, a wave of player departures, and potential injury problems. Currently, they have successfully signed a number of new players including Darlinga, Cambiaggi, Holm, Froyle and Jens Öldegaard, but new manager Italo believes that the team's reinforcement in the midfield position still needs to be further strengthened.

Among the many potential targets, Verona midfielder Suslov has become Bologna's number one prey. The club has been interested in Suslov for a long time, and despite Verona's bid of 12-15 million euros for him, it has not deterred Bologna. The addition of Suslov will undoubtedly greatly improve the control and creativity of Bologna's midfield.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Austrian international Plas, who plays for Austrian side Graz Storm, has also entered Bologna's sights. Italo is full of praise for Plas' contribution in the attacking end. Last season, he made 30 appearances in the Austrian Premier League, scoring 7 goals and dishing out 4 assists, showing excellent attacking ability and game sense. The addition of Plas will add more dynamism and goal threat to Bologna's midfield.

However, just to be sure, Bologna have alternatives in place. They are keeping a close eye on Chelsea's youngster Cesare Casadei and Sassuolo's Soltzvet. These two players also have good potential and strength, and can fill the gap in Bologna's midfield to a certain extent.
