According to the latest report of Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona has shown an unusual position on the reinforcement strategy, they want to continue to rent Manchester City defender Cancelo and Atletico Madrid striker Felix, but made it clear that they don't intend to pay any rental fees. This strategy immediately triggered widespread concern and discussion in the soccer world.

Reports suggest that Barcelona are positive about including Cancelo and Felix in their squad for the 2024-25 season, but their proposed loan extensions are rather "unique". Barcelona plan to cover only the salaries of the two players and refuse to pay any kind of loan fee, which is very different from the normal operation of the soccer transfer market.

For Cancelo, Barcelona's interest remains strong and the player himself is inclined to join them. However, the two sides have disagreed on the transfer method. According to the British media, Barcelona had put forward an alternative transfer program, the program involves now pay about 7 million euros in loan fees and salaries, and comes with a mandatory buyout clause at the end of the season, the total amount is close to the direct transfer of 30 million euros. However, it is clear that Barcelona now prefers the option of not paying any loan fee.

Felix's situation is equally complicated. Despite the fact that his contract is valid until 2029, Barcelona still wants to loan him and is equally unwilling to pay an additional loan fee. Barcelona have even proposed that Atletico Madrid continue to cover Felix's salary, but this proposal is clearly subject to financial fairness policies and is doubtful to be realized.

Both Manchester City and Atletico Madrid prefer to recoup transfer fees through transfers rather than long-term loans. This reflects the financial considerations of both clubs and their assessment of the future value of players.
