What are the draw rules for qualifying matches? The draw rules for the Champions League qualification matches mainly concern the pairing of seeded and unseeded teams, as well as the handling of special circumstances. So what are the draw rules for Champions League qualifying? Let's take a look.

The drawing procedure consists of preparing three bowls with the names of the seeded and unseeded teams in Division 1 in balls to be placed in the corresponding marked bowls.

A ball is then removed from each of these bowls and mixed in a third empty bowl. The first team drawn is the home team and plays the second drawn team. This process is repeated to complete the scheduling of all matchups. In the Champions League qualification and play-off stages, the draw is used to determine the seeded teams against the unseeded teams. Participating clubs are seeded according to club coefficient rankings and principles set by the Competition Committee.

If the participants have not been determined at the time of the draw, the club with the higher coefficient is used for the draw. The UEFA management groups the teams according to the principles, and the draw determines the match-ups and the home and away venues for the first round.
