tournament, but they still have a difference. So what is the difference between the JLF Cup and the Nippon Professional League? Let me give you a brief answer to this question.
The teams and the time are different: the JLF competition consists of 16 major teams from the J1, J2 and J3 leagues, and the schedule is 9 months long, during which more than 300 matches are played. On the other hand, the Nippon Professional League Cup consists of 32 teams from the J1 and J2 leagues and is played over a period of only 3 months.
The system is different: the Nippon League Cup is based on an elimination system, whereby eliminated teams are not allowed to play in the next round until whichever team wins the championship. The Nippon Professionals, on the other hand, use a points system, where teams are ranked according to the size of the points they have scored.
