Ligue 1 side Lille have officially joined the race for young Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko, according to the latest reports from Sky Sports Germany's Patrick Berger and French media outlet Footmercato's Santi Awouna, who are intent on completing the transfer of the German starlet ahead of Marseille.
Reports suggest that the Lille club's president and sporting director have held preliminary talks with Mukoko's team, showing their keen interest in the young striker. Meanwhile, Marseille are still in talks with Borussia Dortmund over Mukoko's transfer, but Lille's involvement has certainly added a new variable to the deal.
Marseille had originally planned to bring in Mukoko on loan and were considering an option to buy out or a mandatory buyout clause in the loan agreement. However, Lille's positive move could force Marseille to speed up the negotiation process to ensure they don't lose the highly-regarded starlet.
However, Mukoko himself prefers to join Marseille, according to Santi Aouna and Romano, another well-known transfer journalist. Marseille's top brass have also shown strong determination and are fully committed to negotiating a loan deal with Borussia Dortmund with an option to buy clause, hoping to reach an agreement with the other side as soon as possible.
