According to Ornstein, of The Athletic fame, the
Manchester United Football Club
have abandoned their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ugarte and are ready to move on to other targets.
Manchester United are unwilling to meet Paris Saint-Germain's €60 million asking price for Ugarte, with a significant gap between the two clubs' valuations of the Uruguay international. For their part, United have said they are only willing to pay what they deem to be the right transfer fee for each of their transfer targets and will not delay negotiations until the summer window closes.
Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain paid about 60 million euros to bring Ugarte from Sporting Portugal. Currently, only if Paris lowers its asking price, Manchester United may return to the negotiation table.
Despite Manchester United dropping their pursuit of Ugarte, Paris Saint-Germain are not worried about being unable to sell the midfielder. Ugarte's impressive performances have attracted interest from a number of clubs and Paris believe they can still find a suitable buyer for the Uruguayan international.
