In an interview with the club's official website, the team's midfielder, Moises
Caicedo
(Moises Caicedo) spoke about his experiences since joining Chelsea and what new manager Enzo Maresca expects from him.
Caicedo said, "The opening period was difficult because it's a big club and you always have to win every game, it was tough for me because I played before at Brighton where there was less pressure, at Chelsea it was different. There is a lot of pressure because of the history of the club and the players who have played here in the past and it's really difficult, but in the last four or five months I feel more comfortable here because there is a lot of support around me."
He further added, "I have the strength and I know what kind of player I am, but I'm a little bit lacking in confidence. Sometimes if you're not mentally strong enough, it's difficult. I watch back after every game. One of the people I speak to regularly told me, 'Moises, you're a good player and have the ability to do what you want to do on the field, just believe in yourself.' Chelsea paid so much money for you and that's because you are a very good player.' I want to perform better and show what I can do."
Speaking about new manager Maresca, Caicedo said, "He has created a similar system to the one I played in at Brighton, he wants the same things, he wants me to show my abilities and personality and show my teammates that I am the boss on the pitch. I'm sure I can be a better player under him."
