According to a new report from leading French sports media outlet L'Equipe, English Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have expressed a strong interest in Lille Ligue 1 striker Jonathan Davie. The 24-year-old Canadian international has become one of the most highly regarded rising stars in European soccer after showing excellent goal-scoring ability and all-round technical qualities in the past few seasons.

Jonathan Davie's current contract is reportedly set to expire next June, and the Lille club would naturally like to extend his contract in order to maintain the team's attacking firepower. However, the young striker doesn't seem to be satisfied with the status quo and is actively looking for transfer possibilities to challenge for a higher level league and a more competitive club.

It is worth noting that Jonathan Davie has previously turned down an offer from Serie A side Roma, showing that he has clear requirements and expectations of his transfer targets. Now, with the addition of Tottenham Hotspur, his transfer prospects have become even more confusing.

As well as Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid had also been rumored to be one of the teams interested in Jonathan Davy. However, with Bedlam close to signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, their interest in Jonathan Davy seems to have waned. This certainly opens up more opportunities and possibilities for Tottenham.

Last season, Jonathan Davie had a great season with Lille, scoring 26 goals and dishing out 7 assists in 47 official matches, making him an important pillar in the team's offense. His outstanding performance has also made his price in the transfer market rise, and the current price given by the German transfer has reached 50 million euros.
