According to The Sun, Chelsea Football Club player Chilwell has been involved in a row with his neighbors over the construction of new facilities such as a basketball court in his £5 million mansion without planning permission. The incident not only revealed the complexities behind the mansion's expansion, but also sparked discussions about privacy and building planning.

Chilwell's mansion is located in a posh neighborhood, and the five-bedroom home was originally equipped with luxury amenities such as a swimming pool, gym and two game rooms. However, he didn't stop there, and made further extensions to his back garden, including the construction of a fire pit walkway and retaining wall. However, this 'engineering operation' was not approved by the local council and led to disputes with neighbors.

The main point of complaint from the neighbors is that the Chilwell extension has invaded their privacy. They say that the new retaining wall and fire pit walkway have raised the ground level 1.5 meters higher than it was originally, and that people standing on it now have a direct view of their gardens, terraces and kitchen areas. This has left them feeling uneasy and concerned about the invasion of their privacy.

Neighbors have written to the relevant agencies to complain and express their concerns about privacy and convenience. They would like to keep their family life private, and while they understand that the problem can be mitigated through, for example, vegetative barriers, they would prefer that the new ground level not be so high.

According to documents submitted by Elmbridge Council, building work began in April but has not yet been completed. Officials expect to make a final decision in September. Although they believe the extension is unlikely to have a significant impact on the main dwelling, the character of the area or the amenities of the neighbors, it is still subject to formal discussions with neighbors and relevant consultees.
